A spin on the old picture of a fish being swallowed by a bigger fish who is in turn being swallowed by a still larger fish, this illustration takes things out of context in a weird and entertaining way. Strange but true, octopusses DO in fact have the ability to crawl across land and can be found making their way from tide pool to tide pool often accross grass, so this illustration isn't as weird as you might think.

Did you know...

The octopus is a mollusk. It belongs to the same group as chitons, abalone, snails, limpets, scallops, oysters, clams and mussels. The octopus also belongs to a sub-species of mollusks called the cephalopods. This means head to foot and is used as the name because an octopus’ "feet" are attached to its head. They are highly intelligent and have amazing problem solving skills. and have been teh inspiration for many myths and a whole lotta art.

Octopuses swim by expelling a jet of water from a contractile mantle, and aiming it via a muscular siphon. They can also change their colors as a means of camoflage, thus protecting themselves from predators.

The largest Giant Pacific Octopus ever caught weighed about 600 pounds, about the same weight as a Brown bear! It's tentacles spanned upwards of 33 feet in length!

When it comes to octopus facts, on of the more amazing ones is that it has absolutely no bones. The only structure anatomical structure is the beak around the mouth, which is similar to your fingernails. By the way, octopuses’ bites are poisonous to their prey. In fact, the Blue Ringed Octopus is No. 4 on the list of the top ten most poisonous animals in the world.

The Blue-Ringed Octopus is very small, only the size of a golf ball, but its venom is so powerful that can kill a human. Actually it carries enough poison to kill 26 adult humans within minutes, and there is no antidote. They are currently recognized as one of the world’s most venomous animals. Its painless bite may seem harmless, but the deadly neurotoxins begin working immediately resulting in muscular weakness, numbness, followed by a cessation and breathing and ultimately death. They can be found in tide pools in the Pacific Ocean, from Japan to Australia.
